We only had fifteen minutes to explore before they turned this zoo into a “haunted hayride.”
Living in L.A. has its perks. You can escape to the ocean, mountains, downtown, and…abandoned zoo?!
But the best moments are when you can get away to abandoned areas. Archaic areas. Places that have history and story.
This is the historic Abandoned L.A. Zoo just north of downtown.
Anyone can come here to explore the old cages and feeding areas of an old zoo from mid 1900s.
Since it has a post-apocalyptic feel to it, I always throw my “Joel shirt” (The Last of Us) on made by Insert Coin and act like a bunch of infected are out to kill.
One of the best things about playing video games is emulating them, not just in cosplay but venturing out.
When I see places on games like Uncharted or Tomb Raider, I’m like “I want to go there in real life!”
That’s when I grab my nerd gear and exploration boots and head out.
Since it’s Halloween right now, places that are abandoned have a super eerie vibe. That’s cool.
It adds more to the adventure.
No matter where you live, whether it’s near L.A., Kansas City, Scranton, or Spokane, there’s always a place to venture out and a video game to emulate with an explorers mentality.
